본캐(Original character). 부캐(Aditional character)
본캐 is the abbreviation of 본캐릭터(Original character), and 부캐 is of 부캐릭터(Aditional character). 본캐, 부캐 are originated from the computer game terms. Also these are new generation's terms in the Korea.
본캐 is your main character of computer game. 부캐 is the subsidiary character separated from main one.
So, when someone asks you what is your 본캐 or 부캐? This means what is your main job and subordinate job.
My case..my 본캐 is the international business, and 부캐 is the teaching, translation and volunteer in the seniority centor.
But, 본캐. 부캐 show somewhat negativity of current Korean society especially younger generation. They don't think that 부캐 can grantee their future such as buying houses, getting rich and unemployed situations.
So, they are developing thier 부캐. And there are so many kinds of 부캐. such as Youtube creator, food delivery rider, tutor, online commerce,
